I've started to learn English only in 2011 from completely zero level (before that time I used to learn German). After long years of learning (classes at work, classes in "International House", different speaking clubs, online courses and speaking with my foreigner friends) I've managed to get Upper-Intermediate level. Now I can speak fluently and in most cases, I have no issues with conversation in other counties. As evidence of it, I managed to survive in South Korea last year :) Everything looks fine, doesn't it?
Unfortunately, no... I have terrible "strong Ukrainian accent". I've always made several attempts to get rid of it but with no success (after some time it became boring for me and finally, I gave up this idea...).
In the Winter I've participated in one week English marathon that was dedicated to travels and I liked it :) It was a new experience for me: interesting and funny, without boring things. About several weeks ago Inna sent me information that soon would be a new course that was dedicated to pronunciation. So I decided to try.
This course is based on famous English songs and parts of movies. Each lesson is dedicated to the specific English sound. Each task should be done until the deadline to get a max score. There several types of tasks, but the main is to record how to read specific text with correct pronunciation and share this to group with students. At first, I even didn't want to do this but finally, I got used to. Everyone is very friendly and supports each other.
I've completed about half of the course and started to see improvements in my pronunciation. Currently, we create a strong basement. Almost all tasks are challenges for me but I sure it's worth overcoming it. Inna Sandiuk
